 Educator White Papers
What is a White Paper?
A white paper is an informational piece of writing that falls somewhere between a product brochure and an academic study.
It is most effective when based on research, but may also be a detailed technical description of an Educator feature or area. For example, if you have extensive experience using the Educator Discussion Board, you may write a technical piece on how you have achieved student success in the DB. On the other hand, your course may use all of Educator's communication tools, and you may want to write a piece on the entire communication area.
The format for writing a white paper for submission is as follows:
- Summary: This helps potential readers decide whether to continue reading the rest of the paper—or even perhaps to forward it to a more appropriate department for consideration.
- Content: Detailed information about
- a particular feature
- how a feature is used at various institutions
- features from a particular point of view: i.e. student, instructor or administrator.
- special topics: i.e. security, communication, interactivity
- Invitation to Comment:
This allows the rest of the Educator community to comment or ask questions about your article. You may find this an excellent way to network with like-minded users and/or collaborators.
